Special Sanding is a polished sugar that consists of large crystals and is made from pure cane sugar. It is used as a topping to provide shine and a sparkly effect in baked goods such as cookies, muffins, pound cakes, pie crusts and candy. This sugar won't melt when baked or if added on top of an icing.
