About Tate+Lyle® Beverage Syrups

Tate+Lyle® Beverage Syrups are made with pure cane sugar for adding a distinct taste to either hot or cold drinks. Available in a variety of flavors, such as vanilla, hazelnut and caramel, they are a staple for self-service coffee bars or back-of-house preparation for coffee, tea, and adult beverages. Easy pumps for dispensing make creating signature drinks convenient and mess-free. Tate+Lyle® Beverage Syrups are also available in zero-calorie flavored varieties, which are perfect for “skinny” cocktails, iced coffees, or lower-calorie hot beverages.

About Tate+Lyle® Beverage Syrups

How do I store Tate+Lyle® Beverage Syrups?

We recommend storing both unopened and opened syrups in ambient “room temperature” conditions in a dry, cool place and with the caps tightly sealed.

Can I use Tate+Lyle® Beverage Syrups in place of sugar in a recipe?

The syrups can be used for sauces, dressings and other savory recipes as well as beverages such as coffee, tea, lemonade, Italian Sodas and milkshakes. However, we do not recommend using these syrups for baking cakes, cookies or other baked goods where the chemical composition of the sugars or syrups is critical to the success of the recipe.

In those recipes where I can substitute Tate+Lyle® Beverage Syrups for granulated sugar, what is the replacement amount?

Tate+Lyle® Beverage Syrups can replace sugar in some recipes using the following conversions:

1 cup granulated sugar = 1 1/3 cups Tate+Lyle® Beverage Syrups.  Reduce other liquid called for in the recipe by 1/3 cup.

2/3 cup  Agave or other syrup = 1 1/3 cups Tate+Lyle® Beverage Syrups.  Reduce other liquid called for in the recipe by 2/3 cup.

Can I use Tate+Lyle® Beverage Syrups in recipes that call for Agave or maple syrup?

Yes, in many cases for sauces and dressings. But, note the recipe will have a different flavor and slightly different thickness.

Will the syrup develop crystals over time?    If so, how do I return it to its original state?   Is the integrity of the product damaged if crystals form?

Crystals may form around the mouth of the bottle over time. There is no need to be concerned if this happens.

What is the shelf-life of an opened bottle of the Beverage Syrups?

We do not provide a shelf life after opening due to so many variables in customer handling and storage conditions.

Will substituting Tate+Lyle® Beverage Syrups work in all recipes?

No, and you may see slight differences in some of your finished baked goods where the syrups may be recommended for use, such as brownies, puddings and custards. Since the properties of Tate+Lyle® Beverage Syrups are different from granulated sugar, some baked items may bake and brown differently. Some baked goods, such as brownies, will likely have a more cake-like versus fudge-like texture.
